Semester Two Reflection 2023
This semester I feel that I did not create as much as I would have liked to, and I found that I wasn't incredibly proud of the majority of my projects or sketchbooks. However, I believe that the image on the left is one of my best sketchbooks this semester, primarily due to the amount of effort put into it and the overall collage-esc. composition. The image on the right, however, is likely one of my worst. For one, it is incomplete and therefore flat throughout most of the candy pile, with minimal detail on the sections that I actually did complete. It definitely is
Best vs. Worst
not my best work, and that becomes apparent when placed next to the left-most image. I think that the main difference between the quality of work of these two images falls back onto the amount of time and effort that I put into them. My better work is seen as a result of time set aside to focus on my projects and a clear idea in mind, while my worse ones emerge when I'm feeling rushed and am drawing for the sole purpose of getting an assignment done. The quality of these two pieces also relies on the media used, as I am more confident in drawing materials over painting materials. Next year I hope to take these observations on my own work ethic into account when completing my portfilio so that I may create something that I'm proud of all-around.
